What is brain development? It is the process of the brain completing its physical structure under the effect of genetic factors, eating habits and environmental factors. Development of the brain starts during pregnancy when the first neurons (nerve cells) are formed. Cognitive development does not depend on the increase in the number of neurons, although it does depend on the increase in synaptic connections among neurons (synapses).

What Age is The Brain Fully Developed?

  • Cognitive development in boys continues until age 16 to 18 years old.
  • Cognitive development in girls continues until ages 15 to 17 years old.

A particularly crucial time for brain development is the toddler stage. Toddler brain development games are important to encourage a child’s full range of cognitive abilities as they grow older.

WHAT CAN BE DONE TO SUPPORT MENTAL DEVELOPMENT IN CHILDREN?

We’ve previously shared many blog posts with our recommendations. Here are some of the key points to remember:

  1. It’s scientifically proven that the correct nutrients contribute to intelligence development.
  2. It’s scientifically proven that sports and physical exercise encourage intelligence development.
  3. It’s scientifically proven that cognitive development games can accelerate intelligence development.
  4. There are 8 different types of intelligence, which we mention in our previous post, ‘8 Easy and scientific methods for brain development’.

Do Cognitive Development Games Improve Intelligence?

Child development specialists and pedagogues emphasize that games are as important as nutrients! Games are the most important tools that reflect the inner world of children and develop their level of imagination and intelligence.

We recommend our MentalUP Mind Games for toddlers and young children, which have been used by more than 10+ million over the worldwide.

Games are a popular way to boost the brain development of children, both privately at home and school. Games are motivating and engaging for children, and help facilitate the work of teachers.

What about young children who are not yet at school? Some of the most important factors affecting the brain development of 2 to 3-year-old children are their eating habits, sleeping patterns, and playtime. Please note that brain development deficiencies in infants are sometimes accompanied by physical symptoms. Please make sure to consult your doctor if you have any concerns about your child.

Remember: Brain teaser puzzles vary depending on the child’s age. Our blog has more information on brain teasers for children of all ages.

When Does the Brain Stop Developing?

In other words, when does intelligence development stop?

We mentioned that brain development continues until the ages of 15 to 18, but it does not completely end at this point — it can occur even in adulthood, although at a significantly slower pace. As a result, we cannot give a specific answer to this question. Experts suggest that although adult brain development stops around the age of 30, it is necessary to continue brain exercises for memory and other cognitive abilities in order to preserve existing mental skills.

WHAT IS COGNITIVE DEVELOPMENT? | COGNITIVE DEVELOPMENT THEORY

Cognition: The use of mental skills to learn, remember, concentrate, and think.

Cognitive Development: The development of cognitive activities over time, such as thinking, learning and remembering. The rapid improvement of cognitive development creates the potential for brilliant or superior intelligence.

Cognitive development in infants begins during the third week of pregnancy. The baby starts to detect stimuli from surroundings in the fifth month. The brain development of the child is extremely fast during the first three years and they greatly benefit from toddler brain development games during this time.

There’s been a lot of information shared in this post. Here’s a summary of the key points to remember:

  1. Development of the brain begins during pregnancy.
  2. Cognitive development is related to the physical development of the brain.
  3. Cognitive development is directly proportional to time (progression occurs as age increases). See more: Psychosocial Development Theory: Erikson’s 8 Stages
  4. Intelligence level is determined by how much faster a child’s cognitive skills develop versus their peer group. Cognitive development activities, social activities, and external factors accelerate brain development in infants, children and adults.

VYGOTSKY COGNITIVE DEVELOPMENT THEORY

Does the fifth point in the above list sound new? This point is the Vygotsky Cognitive Development theory, which is the idea that the potential for cognitive development depends on V "the zone of proximal development". In other words, this zone is where children engage in social behaviour with adults and peers.
